Melville Q. Wyche, Jr., MD

Dr. Melville Q. Wyche, Jr. of Washington, N01th Carolina, graduated valedictorian of his 1955 high school class. He received a Bachelor of Science Degree in 1959 from Hampton Institute, and a Doctor of Medicine Degree in 1963 from Meharry Medical College.  Dr. Wyche is a Fellow of the American College of Anesthesiologists, and a Diplomat of the American Board of Anesthesiology.  In 1989, Dr. Wyche was appointed Professor and Chairman of Anesthesiology at Howard University. He served with distinction in this capacity until retirement in 2007. Dr. Wyche has published more than fifty-five articles and abstracts in referred journals and, in 1979, was honored by his alma mater, Hampton University, as the Outstanding 20-Year Alumnus. He is a member of Alpha Phi Alpha 

Dr. Wyche purchased his first boat in 1989 and joined the Seafarers Yacht Club, Inc. that same year.  As a member, he quietly moved up the ranks from Recording Secretary to  Commodore in 1999, a position he held for 16 years.  He is now a member of the Seafarers Foundation, Inc. Board of Directors, an organization he established during his tenure as Commodore.  Captain Wyche enjoyed over 20 years cruising the Chesapeake Bay and its tributaries.
