Our mission is to prepare African American youth for a better life. In particular, we want to contribute to a substantial reduction in the rate of drowning for African American youth, through our swimming lessons.
"When we took the participants in our Summer Youth Program to sail on the Schooner Woodwinds in downtown Annapolis, it was absolutely amazing to see the transformation. They started off somewhat apprehensive of the huge sailboat, but after spending time with Captain Ken and his knowledgable crew, taking the helm, and becoming comfortable on deck, our participants were energized and wanted to return."
— Alice Mahan, Coordinator, Summer Youth Program
The Summer Youth Program was started as a one-week program, and has now expanded into a two week program. This year, the program will include chess instruction provided by the U.S. Chess Center.
