History: Founded in 1959 by a passionate group of Black boating enthusiasts, the Seafarers Yacht Club, Inc. in Annapolis, Maryland has been a cornerstone of seamanship and community service. Starting with gatherings in members' homes, the Club achieved a major milestone in 1967 by transforming an abandoned schoolhouse - originally built for Black children in East Port, Annapolis - into a vibrant clubhouse. Over time, this hub has evolved to include a swimming pool and a scenic deck overlooking Back Creek. Today, with over 80 active members, the Club is renowned for its nautical expertise and dedication to community service, offering programs that support economically disadvantaged children and seniors. Many members also contribute through the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary, Flotilla 24-6, advancing education and performing critical search-and-rescue operations, all while honoring the founders' values and vision.

Message from the Chair
On behalf of the Seafarers Foundation, Inc. Board of Directors, I thank you for your support and donations throughout 2024. Your continued support is instrumental in the Foundation achieving our goals. Your contributions played a pivotal role in the Foundation achieving our mission of providing educational services for underserved youth, seniors, and others in the inner-city communities of Anne Arundel and Prince George’s Counties.
In 2024, we provided services to underserved youth through our Summer Youth Program and our Sea Scout Ship 1959 in areas relating to swimming, fishing, recreational boating, the science of navigation, and basic water safety skills. In addition, we provided services to seniors during the Thanksgiving season to assist in improving their quality of life.
In 2025, our goal is to continue to engage the underserved communities of Anne Arundel and Prince George’s Counties, providing similar services as we did in 2024.
